Hans Magden and his work were featured in the Fall 2011 edition of ART ACQUISITOR Magazine for the Discerning Collector, Vol. 9 Number 1, published by the Amsterdam Whitney Gallery. A collection of 5 paintings by Hans Magden will be on display, and available for purchase, at the Earth And Vine Wine Bar in Baker City. The 5 painting series features paintings done in 2009 & 2010 about the time Hans was diagnosed with Parkinson's. The collection was put together by his lifemate and partner Christy Rheu and makes a dynamic display. Hans Magden will be the Featured Artist at the Short Term Gallery in Baker City, Oregon. Thirteen orginal oil paintings will be on display at Tom Novak's Short Term gallery, located at 1829 Main Street. The Exhibition will last 2-months, September and October of 2011, and be part of the First Friday Art Walk. The Featured Artist, Hans Magden, will be at the gallery reception October 7th, from 7:00-9:00 pm for informal discussions of his work.

Early Spring Hans Magden was interviewed at his home and gallery in John Day, Oregon by Danielle Harris freelance writer for Oregon Magazine 1859. Parkinson’s Disease Sharpens Focus for Artist

His work is vivid, loud and raw or as art critic Martha Mahoney put it: “It’s like viewing a uterus whether you like it or not, you can’t stop staring at it.”
His paintings are real, they’re raw and they demand to be seen. But the real story goes far beyond the artwork. Magden’s story is an inspiration. It’s about working through adversity to hone in on the essence of what matters and not waste time on the nonessential details or trying to please others.
Hans Magden has been painting for decades in rural eastern Oregon and has filled hundreds of canvases. The kicker is that Magden’s most productive and creative phase has been during his battle with and acceptance of Parkinson’s disease....

Hans Magden's 36 x 24 Oil on Canvas painting titled "King of Hearts" sold following his "Opening" at the Amsterdam Whitney Gallery in Chelsea NY last May. A portion of Magden's work will be respresented by the New York gallery through April 2012. Over two hundred paintings and sculptures can be seen at this personal gallery in John Day, Oregon.
